One year later, Bak USA is poised for continued growth.
One year after opening its doors in downtown Buffalo, BAK USA is celebrating company growth and reflecting on the year’s triumphs.
“What we have accomplished in just one year has exceeded our wildest expectations,” stated JP Bak, chairman and co-founder of BAK USA. “Our customers, strategic business partners, investors, and especially the Buffalo community are choosing BAK USA because our mission matters to them as much as it does to us.” The company, which builds high quality mobile devices for Buffalo schools and businesses, implements cutting edge technologies and offers competitive price points to establish success.
From its 10,000 square foot production facility and corporate offices at 425 Michigan Avenue, employees shared a tremendous sense of collective pride while celebrating the following accomplishments:
Finding strength in numbers.
To deliver high quality devices to customers, BAK USA formed a strategic alliance with technology powerhouse Intel, and the company is on track to announce several other key alliances in 2016.

Investing in local youth.
Partnering with Mayor Byron Brown and the city of Buffalo, the company provided 500 devices to college-bound students as part of the “Say Yes” scholarship program, preparing them with the technology they need to succeed.
Building bonds with local businesses.
BAK USA worked with Tod Martin and the Martin Group to best communicate its mission and vision. “We consider them as mentors and coaches who enable us to be the best version of ourselves,” explained Sesha Yalamanchili, director of marketing and business development for BAK USA.
Of the 30 employees at BAK USA, 14 different nationalities and 27 different languages are represented. “We have developed a culture steeped with respect for one another,” said Eva Bak, the company’s director of administration and human resources. “Each of us comes to the team with amazing stories of personal and professional triumphs.”

Partnering with savvy investors.
In May 2015, former Buffalo Sabres owner Tom Golisano partnered with BAK USA as a financial backer to strengthen the company. “The Bak family has some characteristics about is that are very appealing to an entrepreneur,” said Golisano. “They have intensity, skill, and integrity.”
Capitalizing on opportunities.
With benefits from Andrew Cuomo’s START-UP NY campaign, BAK USA was able to access invaluable resources at the University at Buffalo. As a result, the company hired three UB graduates; plans to lead many more student-led engagements in 2016; and has generally benefitted from all the business, manufacturing, and engineering consulting services that UB provided.
