School budgets are notoriously tight. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Vantage Financial to help them buy the technology they need without breaking the bank.
Case in point: Bowman County Public Schools, a rural school district in Bowman, North Dakota, that serves fewer than 500 students. Educators and administrators there have spent the last few years carefully considering how to implement 1:1 computing at schools throughout their district.
What’s 1:1 computing? It’s a learning environment in which each student and teacher is given a mobile computer to access the internet, digital course and supplemental material, and digital textbooks. By introducing edtech into the student-teacher relationship, 1:1 computing increases access to educational resources and creates opportunities for collaboration and real-time interaction.
Finding solutions and meeting needs.
As you might imagine, it can be tough for school districts with tight budgets to buy hundreds of computers at once. So when the administrative team at Bowman found that teachers overwhelmingly supported shifting to a 1:1 computer environment, they knew they’d need to find the perfect classroom computer and a flexible financing solution.
Jonathan Jahner, the science and tech coordinator at Bowman, headed to the nearest Microsoft Store in search of a laptop that would not only be easy for students and teachers to use but that would also meet the needs of Bowman’s learning community.
Microsoft Store officials knew our Atlas 2-in-1 laptop would fit the bill.
Jahner was immediately hooked—but he still needed to fit the purchase into Bowman’s budget. To make it happen, he worked with Brian Bagley, a managing director at Vantage Financial.
Bagley put together a creative financing solution that included a five-year lease and an escrow account. The lease enabled Bowman to buy enough Atlas laptops for an initial rollout without breaking their budget. The escrow account gave school officials peace of mind because they knew they’d have money set aside for a second purchase when their computer network was ready.
Teamwork makes all the difference.
Our partnership with Vantage Financial made all the difference for Bowman and for their students. But don’t take my word for it.
It all came together pretty smoothly. They had a unique timing and technology issue and we were able to solve it for them. They got the computers they needed exactly when it would benefit them—and their students—the most. That’s incredibly rewarding.”
The Atlas is much more user-friendly than our original computer environment. We love the laptop-to-tablet functionality. It provides our students with options for accomplishing a task so they can choose the one that works best for them and still get the work done.”
