Bak USA is a social enterprise that employs a local yet diverse workforce in Buffalo, New York. These are their unique stories.
Lucky Anita Lakareber is a native of Uganda. She is currently an administrative assistant with Bak USA.
“It is an excellent place to work at. Because I remember the first time I walked in. The goal of the company is the most fascinating thing, being able to give back to the people that have had less of an opportunity.
“When we just started there was a time when we were just started that the chairman, JP was speaking and he said, ‘If you are making a tablet, put in mind there is someone out there getting it for the first time. It is a one life opportunity they have and they have not really had much in life. So whatever you are doing make sure you are at least thinking of that other person that is on the receiving end, so do it to the best of your ability.’
“Bak USA is not just employment; it is a home. It is family and being able to work here; it is not just a job, but it is also an honor, a privilege. So if you are out there also, I would love for you to get time to review our website and be able to see exactly what we do. It is not just, you know, making tablets—we are giving back to the community.
“My name is Lucky Anita Lakrebar, and I am from Uganda.”
