I’m Atlas Product Manager Alex Fernandez and I’ve taken over this week’s blog to help you and your kids access some awesome edtech experiences in our community.

Yes, Bak USA serves students and schools across the country and around the world, but we all know that education really starts at home. At Bak USA, we do more than just build computers for K-12 schools. We’re proud to make edtech experiences available to as many kids and families as possible—especially in our own hometown.

Not sure if you or your kids want to get in on the action? Here’s a look at what you can expect from edtech experiences with Bak USA.

Edtech STEM Night at Microsoft Store

STEM Night with Bak USA, Computers for Children & WNY STEM

Thursday, March 29, 2018

Last month, we teamed up with our local Microsoft Store, WNY STEM, and Computers for Children to participate in STEM Night Spring 2018, a workshop hosted by the Microsoft Store in the Walden Galleria Mall. With several STEM stations to explore, 100+ students had the opportunity to test their skills in science, technology, engineering, and math. When kids weren’t using their Atlas to design 3D homes and create stop motion animations, they were learning about the different parts of a computer and creating colorful foam explosions.

Our favorite outcomes? These stop motion movies from Cassie and Lucas.

Bennett School of Innovative Technology

Speaker Series

Bak USA is proud to participate in a speaker series that takes place at the Lewis J. Bennett School of Innovative Technology. We’re working with the school’s technical education and instructional staff to create hands-on workshops where teens can get a closer look at careers in advanced manufacturing.

We’re showing these kids that they are capable of using computers to design prototypes, develop electronics, and improve user experiences. With an inside look at life-changing technology, these teens have the opportunity to see themselves thrive in high-tech careers that exist right in their hometown. It is a very real possibility for kids in our community to succeed in STEAM and events like this help us spread that message.

Buffalo Mini Maker Faire

Saturday, May 18, 2018

Next month, the Buffalo Mini Maker Faire will take place at The Park School of Buffalo, and we’ll be partnering with Bill Rider, the tech coordinator at Park, to help deliver all sorts of interactive activities. The faire will be open to the public and overflowing with fun, cool, and challenging activities, so you won’t want to miss it. Plus pre-sale tickets are just $5 and children under 3 get in for FREE.

Bak USA will host a booth where participants of all ages can:

• Observe the inner workings of a laptop computer
• Gain exposure to computer manufacturing processes
• Build a laptop computer in seven steps
• Design 3D structures using Microsoft’s 3D Builder
• Produce stop-motion movies using Clapmotion
• Travel through time and space via VR technology
