Our new Seal was designed to withstand the harsh realities of a workday that doesn’t always take place within four walls. It’s a virtually indestructible device that enables workers to be productive in extreme conditions.

Whether it’s manufacturing, field services, logistics, or emergency services, the Seal will turn anyone who uses it into an unstoppable force of power and productivity. And when it’s combined with Esri ArcGIS software and apps… well, watch out.

Our Esri Partnership

Let’s get right down to brass tacks, shall we? If you know anything about Bak USA, you know we’re not in this game to make a quick buck off people. We’re in it to empower people. That’s why we built the Seal: We want to empower workers.

So when we met the team from Esri, we knew we’d met our match.

Esri makes software called ArcGIS, the world’s most powerful mapping and spatial analytics platform. ArcGIS is enhanced by a suite of apps that includes Collector for ArcGIS and Survey123 for ArcGIS. Esri’s software exponentially increases the capabilities of workers in the field, enabling them to not only be more productive but find unique ways to drive decisions with data. And that’s a beautiful thing.

Oh, wait—did I mention that both Collector for ArcGIS and Survey123 for ArcGIS run beautifully on our new Seal? (nudge nudge)

Our rugged Seal tablet turns workers into unstoppable forces of power and productivity. When it’s combined with Esri ArcGIS software and apps, watch out.

Here’s how.

Collector for ArcGIS

Collector is a great tool for field data collection.

To use Collector, an experienced GIS user will need to create a blank map and attribute table that’ll be used to visualize the gathered data. Once these are in place, team members can take their Seal tablets into the field and get to work.

What sort of data can Collector gather? The possibilities are almost endless, my friend.

We’re talking damage reports. Flood reports. Service requests. Inventory. Inspection data. Heck, you can even use Collector to manage a NASCAR event, track snowfall and response in real time, manage the Boston Marathon, or evaluate land to see if it’s suitable for use as an endangered bat habitat. I mean, why not?

“But there’s just one wrinkle,” you might say. “Field work takes people to places that don’t have mobile connectivity, so your Collector app won’t work!”

Hold your horses there, cowboy. There’s more!

Collector works online or offline. Data is stored on the device and automatically uploaded and synced via ArcGIS Online when service is available. And that makes our Seal the perfect complement to Collector.

Seal works online or offline. It comes standard with 128GB storage—and you can add an SD card for an additional 128GB. (For those keeping score at home, that’s 256GB of sweet storage goodness.) Plenty of room for offline storage of data, images, audio, and video. And when you get back to the office, Seal’s built-in Wi-Fi capabilities will make quick work of uploading and syncing data.

Survey123 for ArcGIS

Survey123 is a form-based data-gathering solution that’s as easy to use as 1-2-3. (Come to think of it, that’s probably how Esri came up with the name.)

  1. Quickly create surveys and store them in ArcGIS Online. Surveys can be designed in multiple languages with easy-to-fill answers and embedded audio and images.
  2. Workers grab the Survey123 mobile app, access your survey, and head out into the field to start asking questions. Because the questions are predetermined, the quality and consistency of data returned is higher than it would be if the survey questions could be altered.
  3. Watch as collected answers come rolling in. You’ll be able to analyze those answers in real time and use the data to support decision making.

But how, exactly, can you use Survey123 in the real world?

Allow me.

  • You could track litter cleanup and use the data to drive litter reduction efforts.
  • You could create a workflow to manage sump pump inspection on pads for oil and natural gas wells.
  • You could use it to turn your field staff into expert inspectors as they keep 250 miles of water pipeline and 10,500 service connections in working order.
  • You could use it to treat and document skin conditions among refugees.

Our Seal is the perfect device to complement Survey123. It’s got a stylus. A touchscreen that’ll work even if you’re wearing gloves. Plenty of storage so you can collect images, audio, and video data. And because it’s a rugged device, you’ll be able to get survey data from just about anywhere on the planet. Bam.

Survey data collection was never so easy.

(Oh, and if you’re collecting sensitive data, the ArcGIS software has your back. But so does the Seal—it comes standard with a fingerprint reader so you can keep data locked safely away from prying eyes.)

Because it was engineered for life in the field and comes loaded with smart, practical tech, the Seal is the perfect tool for real-world GIS mapping and data management. Whether you’re mapping data with Collector or gathering it with Survey123, the Seal will help you get the job done—no matter where you are.
