Bak USA donates 20 rugged tablets to The Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park

BUFFALO, N.Y.—June 14, 2018—Bak USA, a social enterprise that builds computers in downtown Buffalo, is equipping The Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park, the largest inland naval park in the United States, with modern technology to enhance the visitor experience.

In a press conference hosted earlier today, Bak USA presented the Naval Park with 20 rugged Seal tablets that run an Android operating system. The Naval Park will begin using the tablets during the 2018 season to collect customer feedback and contact information previously captured on paper—creating new opportunities to connect with customers pre- and post-visit and gather the data needed to track and measure performance each year. The tablets will also function as interactive display signs for guests interested in learning more about the exhibits in the Naval Park’s museum.

“Technology is creating new opportunities for museums and educational institutions like ours to connect with customers, but funding these projects can be a challenge when you rely on community support and donations,” said Kathleen Garvey, chair of The Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park board of directors. “The donation from Bak USA allows us to modernize the guest experience and get more data on what’s working, what isn’t, and what people want to see when they visit the Naval Park.”

In addition to the tablet donation, Bak USA unveiled a welcome video featuring J.P. Bak, the company’s chairman and CEO. Guests will be greeted by the video, which serves as an introduction to the park and provides an overview of its rich history, as they enter the museum’s second-floor entrance.

“Working with the Naval Park gives us an opportunity to support a valuable community initiative and deliver on our shared commitment to education,” Bak said. “By donating the rugged tablets and a welcome video, we hope to empower park officials to enhance their educational programming and find new ways to connect people to history for years to come.”
