Bak Board: Hardware Q&A

  • SIM Cards

    Q: Which SIM cards are compatible with the Bak Board?
    A: The Bak Board is compatible with SIM cards from AT&T and T-Mobile.

  • Charger

    Q: The USB port for the charger does not seem to be working. What should I do?
    A:If your device battery is extremely low, your device may not appear to be charging, which could make it seem like the charger is not working. Try leaving your device plugged in for an hour or two, but if the device still doesn’t charge, send us a message and here’s what we’ll we do:

    1. We’ll email you a prepaid shipping label that you can print out and use to ship us your device.
    2. Once we receive the device, we’ll attempt to repair the USB port.
    3. If for some reason we are unable to do so,  we’ll ship you a brand new device.
    4. If your warranty is still active, the services will be free. If not, repair costs may vary.
    5. If we repair or replace your device, we’ll ship it back to you within seven business days.

    Q: The charger component does not seem to be working. What should I do?
    A: Try to see if the charger works on a different micro USB device, such as a phone or camera. If that doesn’t charge those devices, send us a message and here’s what we’ll do:

    1. We’ll email you a prepaid shipping label that you can print out and use to ship us the charger.
    2. Once we receive the charger, we’ll attempt to repair it.
    3. If for some reason we are unable to do so, we’ll ship you a brand new charger.
    4. If your warranty is still active, the services will be free. If not, repair costs may vary.

  • Touchscreen

    Q: My screen is broken. What should I do?
    A: Send us a message and we’ll work with you to repair or replace your device.

Bak Board: Software Q&A

  • Launcher 3 Error

    Q: I keep receiving a “Launcher 3 Error.” What should I do?
    A: For a quick fix, you’ll need to uninstall the Google+ app. Here’s what to do:

    1. Swipe down from the notification bar at the top of your screen.
    2. Tap the Settings Quick Access icon (multiple squares within a square) in the upper right corner.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. Tap Apps.
    5. Tap the Google+ app.
      • If the app is not visible, swipe from the right edge of the screen towards the left until you arrive at anAll tab. Scroll down, find the Google+ app, and uninstall it.
    6. Tap Uninstall updates.
    7. Tap OK to confirm.

    To prevent the app from re-updating itself, do this:

    1. Go to the Google Play Store.
    2. Search for “Google plus” in the search bar.
    3. Tap the overflow button (three vertical dots) in the top right corner.
    4. Deselect the auto-update option.

    If that doesn’t work out for you, or you experience recurring errors, send us a message and here’s what we’ll do:

    1. We’ll email you a prepaid shipping label that you can print out and use to ship us your device.
    2. Once we receive your device it, we’ll reprogram it for you.
    3. We’ll ship the device back to you within seven business days.
  • Google Error

    Q: Google appears to have stopped working on my Bak Board.
    A: Send us a message, and here’s what we’ll do:

    1. We’ll email you a prepaid shipping label that you can print out and use to ship us your device.
    2. Once we receive your device it, we’ll reprogram it for you.
    3. We’ll ship the device back to you within seven business days.
  • Malware

    Q: I am receiving ads and pop-ups.
    A: Some apps may generate ads and pop-ups on your device. To get rid of ads and pop-ups, uninstall the offending apps. Only download trustworthy apps from the Google Play Store.

  • Android

    Q: Can I update the Android version on my Bak Board?
    A: No, not at this time. The Android version on your device is specific to the Bak Board, so any other Android updates will not be applicable. However, when an Android update becomes available, your device will show you a notification that gives you an option to make the update.
